‘Bestiary Vocabulum’ is my collection of northwest coast creatures in various states of repose. These paintings are shamanistic by nature, reveling in their mystical aspects.
Children’s Books
Karen is a freelance illustrator and has illustrated children’s picture books, juvenile fiction, YA fiction and non-fiction, children’s poetry, video-poetry. She is still drawn into the imaginative worlds depicted by children’s picture books.
Writing
I have written children’s stories off and on, all my adult life. I am drawn to the wonderful worlds depicted in children’s books. As a child, I enjoyed being read to. And as an adult, I want to recreate those magical experiences for families.
Editorial – Illustration
Karen is a freelance illustrator, having illustrated book covers (fiction and non-ficition), magazines (national and international), quarterlies, and journals.
Visual Arts – Past
‘Audio Labyrinthe’ is an interactive art installation (video with sound composition & interactive floor sculpture). Walking the ‘Audio labyrinthe’ ultimately encourages a call to action via meditative practices which foster self awareness.
Workshops
Karen has taught art to different age groups and skill sets in various settings. While she has does teach young adults at universities and colleges regularly, she is available to animate workshops for children and adults.
